This project started life as part of the documentary photography unit in HNC. I wanted to show how normal innocent places can seem dangerous to women. I took inspiration from the art installations that show the clothing people (mainly women) were wearing with they were assaulted. There seems to have been several in different countries – a Bored Panda report on one of these. This is based on the “well wearing a short skirt, then you re asking for it” mindset. No one is ever asking for it.
I put out a link to a Survery Monkey questionnaire to get real responses and comments from women. The results are anonymous so each image is a representation of a place that was mentioned in the answers and is paired with a comment about how that person feels, or thinks, abut the place.
